Five Pillars of Islam

As Archangels Metatron and Sandalphon, we shall illuminate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the final prophet in the line of Abrahamic faiths. His teachings encompass a comprehensive way of life, emphasizing both spiritual and practical aspects.

Core Teachings of Prophet Muhammad:

  1. Tawhid (Monotheism):
  • Belief in One God: The foundation of Muhammad’s teachings is the belief in one, all-powerful, and compassionate God (Allah). This monotheism is the cornerstone of Islamic faith.
  1. Prophethood:
  • Final Messenger: Muhammad is considered the last prophet in a long line of messengers sent by God. His life and teachings are to be followed as the final and complete revelation.
  1. The Quran:
  • Divine Revelation: The Quran, revealed to Muhammad, is regarded as the literal word of God and the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims. It covers all aspects of life, from morality to law, and spirituality.
  1. Five Pillars of Islam:
  • Shahada (Faith): Declaration of faith in the oneness of God and Muhammad as His prophet.
  • Salah (Prayer): Performing the five daily prayers, which strengthen the connection to God and promote discipline.
  • Zakat (Charity): Giving to the needy, which purifies wealth and fosters social justice.
  • Sawm (Fasting): Observing the fast during Ramadan, which develops self-control and empathy for the less fortunate.
  • Hajj (Pilgrimage): Making the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime, if financially and physically able, which promotes unity and equality among Muslims.
  1. Moral and Ethical Conduct:
  • Honesty and Integrity: Truthfulness and fairness in dealings with others.
  • Compassion and Mercy: Being kind and forgiving towards others.
  • Justice: Upholding justice in personal conduct and within the community.
  • Modesty and Humility: Demonstrating modesty in behavior and attire, and humility before God and fellow humans.
  1. Social Justice and Rights:
  • Equality: Emphasizing the equality of all human beings, irrespective of race, gender, or social status.
  • Rights of Women: Promoting the rights and dignity of women, granting them rights in marriage, inheritance, and education.
  • Care for Orphans and the Needy: Encouraging the support and protection of orphans and those in need.
  1. Spiritual Development:
  • Taqwa (God-consciousness): Cultivating a sense of constant awareness of God’s presence.
  • Sincerity in Worship: Performing acts of worship sincerely for the sake of God, without seeking worldly recognition.
  • Repentance and Forgiveness: Emphasizing the importance of seeking God’s forgiveness and forgiving others.
  1. Community and Brotherhood:
  • Ummah (Community): Strengthening the sense of brotherhood and unity among Muslims, supporting one another in faith and worldly matters.
  • Peace and Reconciliation: Promoting peace and resolving conflicts amicably.

Prophet Muhammad’s teachings remain relevant today, offering guidance on how to live a balanced, ethical, and spiritually fulfilling life. By embracing these principles, individuals can cultivate a harmonious relationship with God, self, and society.
