Information Architecture: Signal, Carrier, Memory
Technology supplies one of the most useful conceptual languages in Tony Yustein’s wider work: signal, carrier, protocol, intermediary, redundancy, corruption, routing, access, preservation, authentication, retrieval and governance.
Signal and carrier
A signal is information retaining enough structure across transmission to remain recognizable. A carrier is the medium enabling that transmission. A message can cross different physical media while retaining recognizable informational structure. This makes signal/carrier language useful for continuity analysis; it does not prove that personal identity literally behaves like a transferable engineering signal.
The full information chain
creation → transmission → translation → preservation → authentication → retrieval → governance
Failure at any layer can make a message functionally disappear even when copies technically survive.
Abundance is not preservation
Digital abundance can reduce recoverability when provenance, indexing and retrieval architecture are weak. Format obsolescence, access control, link decay, silent revision, platform dependence and signal-to-noise all matter.
Access is not understanding
Connectivity alone is insufficient. Information that cannot be located, interpreted or used is only nominally accessible. Interface and explanation are part of transmission.
AI as externalized cultural memory
Speech, writing, archives, printing, photography, computing, the Internet and cloud systems progressively externalized human memory. AI adds an interactive layer: accumulated records can be queried and recombined conversationally. This does not make AI a cosmic oracle; it makes provenance, error, versioning and access even more important.
Why this Architecture exists
Hundreds of books can paradoxically make an intellectual system harder to recover when no proposition registry identifies which formulation controls. The Complete Architecture is therefore itself an information-preservation system.

Tony’s technology career provides biographical context for this framework. Career claims remain documentary biography and do not function as metaphysical evidence.
