Why This Tablet VI Witness Matters
This run moves the Anunnaki corpus from yesterday’s flood-oath question into creation, labor assignment, and built civilization. Tablet VI says humanity is made so the gods’ work can be carried by humans; it then names the Anunnaki as a divine body addressed by the king, divided into upper and lower jurisdictions, assigned shares, and shown taking up hoes to make bricks for Babylon and Esagila.
The sober takeaway is strong but bounded: the text supports a Mesopotamian memory of human service, divine hierarchy, tool work, brickmaking, city building, and temple order under organized divine authority. It does not directly prove Nibiru, spacecraft, literal mining machines, or modern genetic engineering.

Published translation basis: Marduk proposes compacting blood, bringing bones into being, creating human beings, and assigning them the gods' work so the gods may rest. The exact critical translation is linked in the eBL chapter.
Our cautious working translation: The chapter begins the human-origin sequence as labor transfer: human beings are made so divine work can be carried by another class of beings.
Witness and caution: Edition-controlled; K.12000.B starts later, while VAT 9676 and other witnesses support the Tablet VI sequence. This is mythic creation theology, not a modern laboratory account.
VI 20
Transliteration: sarru ana Anunnakki amata izakkar
Published translation basis: The king speaks the following words to the Anunna/Anunnaki gods. The exact critical translation is linked in the eBL chapter.
Our cautious working translation: The decision scene is explicitly addressed to the Anunnaki as a recognized divine body.
Witness and caution: VAT 9676 and IM 121284 preserve the line clearly; BM 92629 and Ashmolean 1924.1828 preserve parts. The term is Akkadian Anunnakku/Anunna in a Babylonian epic, not a direct Sumerian line.
VI 31-33
Transliteration: ikmusu ... mahri Ea ukallusu / arna imidusu-ma damisu iptar'u / ina damisu ibnu ameluta
Published translation basis: Kingu is bound before Ea, punished, his blood is shed, and humankind is made from that blood. The exact critical translation is linked in the eBL chapter.
Our cautious working translation: Ea/Enki remains central: the human-making act is connected to punishment, divine blood, and release of divine labor.
Witness and caution: K.12000.B, K.5923, VAT 9676, IM 121284, and other witnesses preserve parts of the sequence. Blood creation is strong origin/labor evidence, but it is not modern genetic terminology.
VI 39-47
Transliteration: Marduk sarru ili uza'iz / ana Anunnakki gimrassunu elis u saplis ... Anunnakku pasunu ipusu-ma
Published translation basis: Marduk divides all the Anunnaki into upper and lower groups, stations them, divides their shares, and they prepare to speak. The exact critical translation is linked in the eBL chapter.
Our cautious working translation: This is direct organizational evidence: the Anunnaki are apportioned into cosmic jurisdictions after human creation.
Witness and caution: K.12000.B, VAT 9676, K.13867, IM 121284, and others preserve key parts of the Anunnaki division sequence. Upper/lower organization is cosmic-administrative language, not a map of spacecraft bases.
VI 57-64
Transliteration: epsa-ma Babili ... Anunnakku itruku alla / sattu istat libittasu iltabnu ... sa Esagil mehret Apsi
Published translation basis: Marduk authorizes Babylon; the Anunnaki take up hoes, make bricks for a year, and raise Esagila as the counterpart of the Apsu. The exact critical translation is linked in the eBL chapter.
Our cautious working translation: The same divine group that is divided into cosmic ranks is shown doing city-temple construction with tools, bricks, and Apsu symbolism.
Witness and caution: VAT 9676 is the strongest single witness; BM 54855 also preserves the Anunnaki-with-hoe line in fragmentary form. The passage supports sacred architecture and labor organization, not recoverable advanced machinery.
Corpus Reading
For Tony’s cumulative Anunnaki thesis test, Tablet VI is valuable because several proof motifs are contiguous: human beings are created for divine labor, Ea/Enki is involved in the making of humankind, the Anunnaki are addressed as a body, the group is organized into upper and lower domains, and the Anunnaki carry out sacred construction with hoes and bricks.
This strengthens the human creation/labor and civilization-transfer strands already opened by Enki and Ninmah, The Song of the Hoe, KAR 004, and Atra-hasis. It also adds a cleaner city-building bridge: Babylon, Esagila, Apsu, brickwork, shrines, stations, and divine shares are all in the same Tablet VI sequence.
Limits
Enuma Elish is a Babylonian mythic and theological epic. It is not a laboratory record, a neutral administrative tablet, or a technical engineering manual. The source supports organized non-human/divine authority, creation-for-service, and sacred construction motifs; it does not directly state extraterrestrial identity, Nibiru, spacecraft, literal mining, metal machines, or modern genetic engineering.
